Digitally Enhanced Hawk® TC-200M with Live Tooling Offers High Accuracy Multitask Machining Performance
CINCINNATI, OH (September 4, 2002) -The Hawk® TC-200M CNC Turning Center from Cincinnati Machine combines digital vector servo-axis drives, digital Heidenhain X-axis linear scales and live rotary tooling for high efficiency round parts processing at +0.0004" (1 micron) repeatability. It can be seen in full operation at Cincinnati's IMTS 2002 Booth #8101.
The 8" Hawk TC-200M, one of three digitally enhanced M-Class Hawk Turning Center models, also includes maintenance-free linear guideways with sliding friction 1/50th that of conventional guideways, significantly reducing stick-slip for accurate positioning.
The Hawk TC-200M's servo-driven, 12 station VDI turret provides bi-directional indexing on the fly, without disengaging the drive, resulting in rapid 0.3 second chip-to-chip times.
All turret stations have live tooling capability that gives users the option to mix and match static and powered tools for milling, drilling, tapping and boring operations. This multitasking capability improves surface-to-surface part accuracies and virtually eliminates secondary machining operations to optimize part processing flexibility with "one setup/one machine" throughput efficiencies. It also saves the cost of redundant tooling and redundant machines.
The standard main spindle features a full-contouring C-axis drive with resolution of 0.001°. For maximum production efficiency, the drive can be engaged while the spindle is turning. The Hawk TC-200M offers a rapid axis traverse of 944 ipm (24 m/min) in Z and 630 ipm (16 m/min) in X. The hydraulically actuated brake mechanism on the main drive
spindle ensures maximum rigidity to withstand high cutting forces.
The Hawk TC-200M features a hydraulically actuated chuck powered by a single-range gearless spindle drive. High torque spindle drive motors deliver full 20 Hp with 103 ft. lb. torque at 750 rpm. A special toothed belt drive virtually eliminates side loads on the spindle and motor bearings common with conventional V-belt drives.
Its cast iron base, reinforced at key points for optimum stiffness and vibration damping, gives the Hawk TC-200M added rigidity for precision turning operations. A 45° slant bed improves chip removal rates. A tailstock with programmable quill is standard on the TC-200M. Large through-hole capacity allows processing of 2.5" (65 mm) diameter bar stock. Maximum swing is 24.4" (620 mm) with a maximum machining diameter of 11.61"
(295 mm).
The Hawk TC-200M is equipped with the compact GE Fanuc 21i-TA CNC. This computer control is compatible with previous and current generation Fanuc technology, making it an excellent choice for shops already running Fanuc systems.
Practical options, including a parts catcher, automatic tool setter, high-pressure coolant, bar feed interface, bar puller, collet chuck, plug-in footswitch, and chip conveyor, make the Hawk TC-200M a versatile turning center.
