VoiceSignal Releases Next Generation of VSpeak(TM)

VSpeak 1.1 Available for Major European and American Languages

WOBURN, Mass., April 17 -- VoiceSignal, the leading provider of speech solutions for mobile devices, announced today the release of VSpeak 1.1, an update to the industries smallest and best performing embedded text- to-speech solution. This new and improved speech synthesis solution is available now in English (US & UK), French, German, Italian and Spanish and is currently being integrated on mobile phones by VoiceSignal's customers, and will be available to consumers later this year.

VSpeak, first launched in 2006, is a full text-to-speech (TTS) application that can read names, phone menus, SMS text messages, email, web pages or any other text, making it ideal for hands-free, eyes-free use. Using new technology pioneered by VoiceSignal, VSpeak 1.1 is designed specifically to improve both the naturalness and intelligibility of speech synthesis on a mobile phone in spite of the memory limitations on these devices.

Despite its superior performance, VSpeak 1.1 can be integrated on phones with less than 500KB of memory, making it the smallest available embedded solution with the sound quality and intelligibility of systems requiring megabytes of memory.

Rich Geruson, CEO of VoiceSignal said, "VSpeak represents a major step forward for the mobile phone industry because, for the first time, a high quality TTS system for reading text messages and other content can be deployed in the memory constraints of entry level and mid-tier phones." Geruson added, "Including TTS in mobile phones allows users to listen to incoming text messages or other text without looking at the device. When matched with a bluetooth headset, an entirely new eyes-free interface solution is possible."

VSpeak complements VoiceSignal's VSuite(TM) and VoiceMode(TM) product lines by enabling mobile phone manufacturers to provide a complete speech interface solution to look up or dial a contact name, dial a number, address a text message, dictate a text message or have a text message or other content read aloud.
