TRUMPF Displays Portfolio of Laser Technology at Photonics West 2010

FARMINGTON, Conn., November 20, 2010 - TRUMPF's lineup at Photonics West 2010-the world's leading photonics, laser and biomedical optics event held January 23-28 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, will include the TruMicro 5250, TruMicro Series 3000, the latest generation of TruDisk lasers, and TruFiber 400.

The new, compact picosecond lasers, the TruMicro Series 5000-the family to which the TruMicro 5250 belongs-is the right solution for many micro applications. Industries that will benefit from the technology include semiconductor, photovoltaics, medical devices and electronics. The pslaser is based on disk technology and combines sub 10 ps pulses with a diffraction limited beam and high pulse-to-pulse stability. In addition, the ultra-short pulses of different wavelengths in IR (1030 nm), green (515 nm) and UV (343 nm) enable almost perfect ablation processes on all kind of material.

The TruMicro Series 3000 is based on the same laser as the TruMark Series 3000, but is designed as an OEM laser source with a 19 inch rack compatible control unit. The high output power allows the beam to be split into four, which decreases the number of lasers in a scribing machine. It is designed for P2 and P3 scribing of a-Si and CdTe based thin film solar sells. Its high pulse-to-pulse stability assures electrical isolation of the laser scribe. Due to its diffraction limited beam quality and excellent stability, a small dead area can be achieved.

Also on display at Photonics West is TRUMPF's most recent generation of TruDisk lasers, which have up to 16 kW of power. This high brightness, fiber delivered laser offers unprecedented performance for demanding industrial applications.

Marked by a Beam Parameter Product of 2 to 8 mm-mrad, the TruDisk lasers maintain beam quality regardless of increases in power, resulting in a truly scalable design.

With the TruDisk's integrated power sensor and real time power feedback control, TRUMPF guarantees continuous, steady and reliable power at the work piece. Rounding out the company's portfolio of products at Photonics West 2010 is the TruFiber 400, which is a fiber laser with single mode operation featuring an output power of 400W. TRUMPF's TruFiber -series offers power levels of 200, 300 & 400 Watts - in a 19 inch, rack mounted enclosure. The TruFiber series boasts full functionality, including PC w/ TRUMPF's TruControl software, frequency generator, pulse shaping and real time power control.

TRUMPF products will be showcased in Booth #5015, which is in the Moscone Center's North Hall.

TRUMPF is one of the world's largest producers of fabricating machinery and a world market leader in lasers used for industrial production technology.
