Crescent Stonco Introduces the Low-Profile GP2 Troffer

-Eliminates Nicks and Cuts During Installation and Maintenance-

BARRINGTON, NJ-September 10, 2002 - Crescent Stonco, a division of Genlyte Thomas Group, LLC and a leading manufacturer of lighting products for both the industrial and commercial markets, introduced its GP2 troffer. With hemmed sides, uni-body construction and a hemmed and true mitered door frame, the new low-profile GP2 has no sharp edges and can be installed and re-lamped without cuts and scrapes to the installer.

The low-profile GP2 troffer is three inches deep and is designed around the energy-efficient T-8 lamp and electronic ballast combination. The troffer's spring-loaded cam latches snap shut and are easy to open, providing ease of maintenance when re-lamping fixtures.

"Most existing troffers are designed around the older style T-12 lamps," said Phil Henry, product market manager of Crescent Stonco. "The new GP2 troffer has an obvious advantage over other troffers in that it is designed for the more energy-efficient T-8 lamps and electronic ballasts, which results in energy cost savings for end users. In addition, contractors experience ease of installation and maintenance because the cuts and scratches typically endured by the installer are eliminated, making the troffer more contractor-friendly."

The troffer's ribbed housing provides increased strength and stability and its multiple tabs add additional support and sturdiness to prevent the end caps from buckling. And the GP2 T-hinges alleviate hang-ups when opening the door frame.

The GP2 troffer inventory will be available at electrical distribution centers nationwide beginning October 1, 2002.

Crescent Stonco GP2 Troffer
Problem/Solution

Problem

Many of the troffers available to contactors contain sharp edges, which result in many cuts and scratches to the installers. There is not one troffer on the market that has completely addressed this ongoing problem, regularly experienced by contractors.

Additionally, most existing troffers are designed around the older style and larger T-12 lamps, which are less efficient than the energy-efficient T-8 lamps.

Solution

The Crescent Stonco low-profile GP2 troffer is safe and easy to install. With hemmed sides and door frame and uni-body construction, the GP2 can be installed and re-lamped without cuts and scrapes. The GP2s spring-loaded cam latches snap shut and are easy to open, which provides ease of maintenance when re-lamping fixtures.

The premium GP2 is only three inches deep for an easy fit and is designed around the smaller T-8 lamps resulting in a lower profile. The GP2s energy-efficient T-8 lamp and electronic ballast operation is not only easy to install, but it's also easy on the customer's energy bill.

Additionally, the GP2 troffer's built-in seismic clips lock into the ceiling to prevent the troffer from collapsing or shifting and ensure increased customer safety.
