Triplexer PON Transceiver meets GPON/BPON network needs.

Press Release Summary:

Offered as single fiber, 3-channel full duplex module, Meteor III Triplexer Transceiver Platform combines WDM optics for 1,310 and 1,490 wavelengths for voice and data as well as 1,550 wavelength for RF CATV on PLC chip. Control circuitry stabilizes average optical power output and transmitter extinction ratio to ensure stable performance of module for FTTH ONT applications. Product supports BPON and GPON optical transceiver modules and is configurable to support FSAN compliance.

ColorChip Introduces New Triplexer PON Transceiver Platform

CAESAREA, Israel, March 22 -- ColorChip, a leading developer and provider of fiber optics components and modules based on PLC technology, announced today the introduction of their new Meteor III Triplexer Transceiver Platform for FTTH (Fiber To The Home) ONT applications. This platform supports BPON and GPON optical transceiver modules for the PON market. The Meteor III platform is configurable to support FSAN (Full Service Access Network) compliance, and meets the requirements in ITU G983.1 and G.983.3 for BPON applications or FSAN compliance, and G.894.2 and G.893.3 for GPON applications.

"Our triplexer transceiver platform was designed to meet the market needs for highly flexible ONU modules and low cost solutions based on PLC technology. The Meteor III platform is based on ColorChip's proprietary SOG(TM) (SystemOnGlass(TM)), which enables reduced packaging costs, fully automated production and high yielding modules, therefore reducing costs" says Moshe Price, CEO of ColorChip. The technology leverages similar automated systems used for SMT (Surface Mount Technology).

ColorChip's triplexer transceiver platform is a single fiber, tri-channel full duplex module combining WDM Optics for the 1310 and 1490 wavelengths used for voice and data for upstream and downstream data communications, along with a 1550 wavelength for RF CATV, on the PLC chip. The burst mode data transmitter, characterized by a very high optical efficiency, allows for high CW optical output power levels and low drive current, resulting in high reliability and end of life (EOL) characteristics. Control circuitry is used to stabilize both the average optical power output and transmitter extinction ratio to insure stable performance of the module. The GPON module is fully MSA-8472 compliant.

Announced today is the Meteor III Transceiver Platform targeted at the high growth FTTx and FTTH market for GPON and BPON networks. The products will be on display at booth #1624 at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference on March 27-29 in Anaheim, California, USA.
