First Wearable Device for Incontinence - Notifies You When It’s Time to Go to the Bathroom
SAN DIEGO (PRWEB) OCTOBER 24, 2018 - Triple W, an innovator of connected health devices, was awarded second place at this year’s Innovative HME Retail Product Awards for DFree®, the first wearable device for incontinence that notifies the user via a smartphone or tablet when it’s time to go to the bathroom. The Innovative HME Retail Product Awards are sponsored by HomeCare Magazine and honor home medical equipment (HME) products that are suited for retail sale. The awards competition was held during Medtrade, the largest HME trade show and conference in the U.S., Oct. 15-17, 2018 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta.
The purpose of the retail awards competition is to promote and recognize products that contribute to providers' bottom lines through cash sales. All entries were judged on their contribution to the quality of life, and how well they would work in a retail environment. Products were also judged on: marketing support provided to suppliers, innovation, functionality, quality/durability, aesthetics/style, ease of retail, set-up and pricing.

How DFree Works
The lightweight and portable DFree device may be discreetly clipped on your belt or clothing while the non-invasive ultrasound sensor is secured to the lower abdomen with medical tape. The sensor uses nonharmful ultrasound technology to monitor the change in bladder size and predicts urination timing using a patented algorithm. DFree connects via Bluetooth® to a smartphone or tablet and sends notifications via the DFree app -- informing the individual or caregiver, when it’s time to go to the bathroom. The user sets the threshold of when they want to be notified such as when their bladder is 65 percent, 70 percent or 85 percent full.
Availability
DFree is available now from the DFree website, Amazon and authorized retailers for $499.99 (MSRP). The DFree app may be downloaded for free from the App Store. The app currently supports iOS devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod) running iOS version 10 or later. An Android app will be released in November.
