New 3-Axis, Advanced Laser Series Features Ultra-Fast Speeds

Farmington Hills, MI - NIC America-Laser Group has expanded its lineup of advanced laser processing systems with the development and introduction of its latest technology...the TLZ Series of CO2 3-axis laser cutting machines. The TLZ series features a bridge-type rugged construction and new speed ranges that surpass the speed of conventional laser systems and launch the era of ultra high speed. With responsive control, precision and power along with the flexibility of a dual pallet changer, the TLZ series meets not only the; toughest productivity requirements, but also the most demanding quality and application challenges for large, thick plates or delicate thin sheet metals, exotic alloys and non-metallic materials...and intricate shapes.

The TLZ series provides cutting rates of up to 40,000 millimeters (1,575 inches/131 feet per minute) along with rapid traverse speeds of 100,000 millimeters (3,937 inches/328 feet per minute) in the X and Y axes, and 60,000 millimeters (2,362 inches/196 feet per minute) for the Z axis. High speeds that are kept in check with AC servo drive motors and ball screw and linear ball guide mechanism for precise, controlled movements. The drive devices are isloated so vibrations are minimized to keep cut edges sharp and accurate.

These speeds are then teamed with high power lasers, depending upon application criteria, that assure penetration and piercing to cut all types of materials. Laser power options include 2.5, 3.3, 4.5 and 6.0 kilowatts that, when coupled with flying optics and options such as a non-contact gap sensor, side gas assist, and auto focus, assure cutting integrity. An automatic pierce sensor and retry function is available for the most severe applications.

Complementing its speed and powerful laser output are two model choices with work envelopes that fit a majority of application needs The TLZ-408 provides a 2,500mm x 1,250 mm (98" x 49" inch) cutting stroke-the TLZ-510 model has 3,100mm x 1,550mm (122" by 61") axis movements, and both models have a 100mm (4") vertical stroke of the optical head. High speed, large travel allowances and high power, plus tight tolerances with positioning accuracy of ±.05mm over 500 millimeters of travel (.002"/20" of movement.

Controlling this performance is an advanced Windows-based control unit that features one-touch function and programming of most operations, eliminating multi-key data entering and helping to error proof setup procedures. The control programs, directs and monitors all machine functions, positionings, laser output, and process parameters. The controller is matched with NTC's laser processing software that has built-in subroutines that include calculations and functions for circle, arc and linear interpolation, mirror imaging, an extensive cutting parameters library as well as scaling, automatic skew compensation, part program storage recall and a comprehensive slef-diagnostics package.

The series also features an extra wide, non-jamming conveyor that keeps trimming scrap moving, power assist work piece lifters along with open access helping to make loading and unloading easier, and a dual pallet changer.

In addtion to the TLZ Series, NTC lasers also include the TLM Series of 3-dimesional, 5-axis systems, the TLV Series 3-axis machines for large, wide workpieces, the TLN Speed Hawk Series 3-axis cantilever design units, and the TLX Series high power models in cantilever and gantry configurations.
