Trialstat Launches Esrnexus - A Global Searchable Database of Contributed And Summarized Reference Information

Leading International Academic Institutions Contribute Reference Information to ESRNexus

OTTAWA, May 10 /-- TrialStat Corporation today launched ESRNexus(TM) (www.esrnexus.com) to enhance the ability of the professional research community and the public to simply and quickly search reference and summary information for free through a Web portal. With contributed reference information from research professionals at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutes, Stanford University, McMaster University and the University of Central Florida already available, ESRNexus has quickly become a comprehensive Web-based search engine that enables users to source, share and reuse data manually extracted from peer-reviewed reference literature, such as academic journals, more thoroughly and precisely. In addition, ESRNexus users can access the National Library of Medicine's 16 million article citations from life science journals dating back to the 1950s.

"ESRNexus will enhance our academic research center's capacity to source and reuse data," said Dr. Chad Nye, Executive Director of Autism and Related Disabilities, University of Central Florida. "This will enable the kind of open and collaborative research environment that will advance scholarship, while allowing the public to freely access the latest peer-reviewed and contributed reference content."

"Our vision for ESRNexus is to advance and accelerate research by allowing data captured during the review of reference-based academic journals and other similar peer-reviewed publications to be published and reused by others for free," said Peter O'Blenis, Vice President Systematic Review Technology, TrialStat. "For users, ESRNexus provides information that has been organized, reviewed and submitted by professional researchers. In our view, this information will help to reduce the cost of ongoing research and enable the public to access a trusted source of peer-reviewed contributed reference material."

HOW DOES ESRNEXUS WORK -

ESRNexus is a community-driven search tool that relies on contributions of reference information from professional researchers around the world. Using TrialStat's SRS, a Web-based tool for reviewing research literature, users electronically catalogue research information from journal articles, which they can then publish to ESRNexus through an easy-to-use wizard.

References in the database are then searchable in a manner similar to the National Library of Medicine's PubMed database. References also contain more exact descriptive terms for data that have been manually extracted and submitted by research professionals. These terms can include age range, type of article and language to help improve search precision and refinement. This summary information allows users to glean quickly pertinent details about the referenced article without having to read its entirety.

With the launch of ESRNexus, TrialStat now provides academic organizations, pharmaceutical and bio-tech companies and contract research organizations with clinical data solutions on demand that encompass the entire clinical research life cycle - from early stage research to medical literature reviews to clinical trials.
