Press Release Summary:
Operating inline with existing process, 4-position SMARTWINDER-XL™ supports flat wire speeds to 1,000 fpm. Spools move under fixed input of material to eliminate skewing and ensure wire maintains lateral position from process to spools. For level winding, each position has computerized microprocessor-based electronic traverse for pitch, stroke length, and end dwell. All traverse adjustment settings are accessed through Panel View Touch Screen with SMARTWINDERS™ software.
Original Press Release:
IMC has Developed a New Computerized Traverse Winding System for the Wire Industry
The 4-Computerized Traverse Winder SMARTWINDER-XL™ positions with closed loop tension control operates inline with an existing process for flat wire at speeds to 1000 FPM. The spools move under the fixed input of the material to eliminate skewing and ensure the wire maintain their lateral position from the process to the spools. All 4 positions are mounted in one common aluminum frame but are 4 individual machines each offset to the other 2 inches.
Each SMARTWINDER-XL™ position has a computerized microprocessor based electronic traverse for pitch, stroke length and end dwell for level winding. The lateral motion of the traverse assembly is actuated by a ball screw driven servo drive following the encoded signal of the rotary motion spindle RPM. All traverse adjustment settings are accessed through Panel View Touch Screen with SMARTWINDERS™ software. The Panelview has recipe storage for up to 32 different wire sizes and winding patterns once they are determined.
Precise adjustable rewind tension at each position is speed controlled through the exclusive IMC Dancer/Tension Controller assembly with a 25:1 tension range and diameter calculation. This system can provide precise, programmable tension throughout all operating parameters.
