Trapeze Networks' Wireless Solutions Help Improve Sales Performance of Hypermarket Chain

Union Co-operative Society boosts customer satisfaction through Smart Mobile's seamless integration of retail applications and devices

August 23, 2007

Trapeze Networks, the award-winning global provider of Smart Mobile wireless solutions, has announced that Union Co-operative Society (UCS), one of the UAE's largest chain of hypermarkets and supermarkets, has recently commissioned East Meets West (EMW) to deploy Trapeze's Smart Mobile technology to all eight UCS branches located throughout the country.

UCS has adopted Trapeze's Smart Mobile Wireless technology including the Trapeze Wireless LAN Mobility Points (MP), Wireless Mobility Switch (MX) and the Ring Master Wireless Management software, which have resulted in improved productivity in its retail and logistics operations

"This project is a key move for UCS as it looks for long-term value in its technology investments, and Trapeze Networks is delighted to help UCS pursue its mission through solutions that are crucial to its core operations. We will continue to offer critical support and help UCS strengthen its reputation as an innovative industry leader," said Feras Zeidan, Regional Manager MEA, Trapeze Networks.

Trapeze's packaged retail solution will help UCS wirelessly integrate its PoS devices with critical enterprise components such as database, order management application and other related functions, eliminating the need for cumbersome wirings. The new approach leads to a faster, more efficient and reliable delivery of services to UCS customers and ultimately enhance sales performance in all its fully networked outlets, which operate 24 hours daily.

"I am glad we chose EMW and appreciate their support to deploy Trapeze's highly flexible and easy-to-configure Mobility System. With Smart Mobile, our Pick-by-Voice application now runs absolutely smoothly and all data is permanently up-to-date. In this way we have been able to further boost the efficiency of our retail and logistics centres," said Mohamed Al Wahedi, IT Manager, UCS, UAE.

"What we particularly like is that the Trapeze Smart Mobility solution can map our processes smoothly. Direct communication with the central processors and the genuinely fast roaming helped convince us. It's also an attractive solution if network problems arise, which can be quickly detected via the central management and can usually be solved centrally. The central authentication of the devices simplifies the management of the wireless LAN," added Al Wahedi.

Trapeze Networks' Smart Mobile technology has been a key factor in helping make wireless LAN a more attractive solution for enterprise network infrastructure. With critical features such as scalability, high data capacity, optimum security, reliability and cost efficiency, Trapeze has developed a variety of wireless solutions to meet not just the demands of enterprise clients, but also small and medium businesses.

"Trapeze offers the most suitable wireless solutions to the upgrade program of UCS, and East Meets West is pleased to help them seamlessly deploy the technology in their outlets," said Rifaat Al Karmi, Regional Director, East Meets West.

UCS has around 13,000 share holders and is one of the largest in its category in terms of sales and profit. Established in 1982 by a group of nationals who wished to contribute to the welfare of the country, UCS has been described as a bold venture by any measure, an attribute that is again manifested with its decision to adopt Trapeze's futuristic wireless solutions.
