Santa Fe Springs, April 17, 2002: Densitron, the display and computer products specialist, has introduced an exciting new transportable industrial PC, the Ixion. The Ixion's key feature is its detachable LCD touchscreen display. The touchscreen display can be removed from the main CPU unit and used as a tethered tablet, carried to wherever the user needs it.....up to 30 feet away! The touchscreen module is lightweight with very rugged aluminum construction, incorporating a high brightness LCD screen and fine resolution touchscreen. Since the entire computing function is resident in the base CPU unit, including the more sensitive components such as the hard disk, the touchscreen display module is far more robust than a typical handheld tablet PC. This makes the Ixion ideal for use in industrial or vehicular environments.
With several power input options and a light-sensing self-dimming feature that automatically dims or brightens the display depending on the ambient light, the Ixion is the perfect platform for vehicle based computing. There are also two expansion slots that allow the user to install various data acquisition; GPS, I/O or motion control adapter cards.
Typical uses include in-vehicle R&D test and measurement, vehicle dispatch systems, GPS, surveying and construction, recovery or emergency vehicles, information systems, factory floor operator interfaces and OEM equipment.
