Multivariable Digital Signal Processing Improves Emerson's Popular Micro Motion® Series 3000 Transmitters

Powerful Micro Motion MVD(TM) technology is added to improve customers' process consistency and maximize uptime

Boulder, Colorado. - (December 22, 2003) Emerson Process Management has introduced a new, more powerful version of its popular Micro Motion Series 3000 transmitters. Responding to customer demand, the new Micro Motion Series 3000 transmitters are available with Micro Motion patented MVD(TM) technology. This front-end, multivariable digital signal processing redefines Series 3000 electronics and enables Coriolis flowmeters and Emerson's PlantWeb® digital plant architecture to work smarter and reduce costs through improved process consistency and maximized uptime.

The addition of Micro Motion MVD technology improves measurement performance by delivering clean, noise-free, stable signals that represent multiple measured variables; the measurements enable improved process consistency. Contributing to the predictive capabilities of PlantWeb, this more intelligent technology and built-in smart diagnostics of the transmitter enables problems to be identified and resolved more easily. It also provides two to four times faster response than analog devices.

The Micro Motion Series 3000 transmitter has found wide application appeal because it combines Coriolis transmitter functions and PLC (programmable logic controller) capabilities in one instrument. This open architecture transmitter provides highly accurate Coriolis flow, density and temperature measurement in a single device. For added convenience in configuration and programming, the Micro Motion Series 3000 has full communication capability via HART® and Modbus protocols.

Micro Motion Series 3000 transmitters feature:
· Discrete process control for batch applications
· Six configurable outputs and four inputs
· Advanced density measurement for % HFCS, °Brix,
· °Plato, °Balling, °Baumé, and more
· Custody transfer security
· Intuitive Person-Process Interface
· Field-mount and rack-mount versions

By adding Micro Motion MVD(TM) technology to the Micro Motion Series 3000, Micro Motion Coriolis furthers its powering of Emerson's PlantWeb to improve manufacturing quality through superior measurements that enhance consistency. Similarly, PlantWeb improves throughput and uptime, and the new Micro Motion Series 3000 technology delivers the diagnostic information that helps users identify and deal with issues before they impact operations.
