Emerson's Innovative Ultra for Flow Technology Now Available On Rosemount 3095 Multivariable(TM) Transmitters With Modbus(TM) Protocol

Technology delivers next-generation performance over wide flow turndowns, resulting in lower installation and maintenance costs and reduced process variability

CHANHASSEN, MINN (June 13, 2006) - Emerson Process Management has announced the availability of Ultra for Flow technology in the Rosemount 3095 MultiVariable(TM) Transmitter with MODBUS(TM) protocol. Emerson's award-winning(1) Ultra for Flow innovation enables the ability to deliver unparalleled measurement performance in flow applications over wide flow turndowns. Combining Ultra for Flow and multivariable technologies on MODBUS(TM) transmitters results in lower installation and maintenance costs and reduced process variability for custody transfer and other critical flow applications.

As the industry's first MODBUS transmitter with performance specified as a percent of reading, versus the traditional percent of span, Ultra for Flow is an extension to the field-proven Rosemount 3095 platform. The technology innovation of a "percent of reading" transmitter eliminates the performance degradation inherent in the square root relationship between flow and differential pressure; maximizing flow accuracy over wide flow turndowns. When integrated via MODBUS with RTU's, PLC's and other flow computers, the 3095 MultiVariable Transmitter with Ultra for Flow provides numerous benefits including:
- Reduced process variability in natural gas and other critical installations
- Increased installation and maintenance savings through the elimination of transmitter stacking and plate swapping
- Minimized maintenance costs and longer calibration intervals with standard 10-year stability
- Unprecedented reliability - Ultra for Flow is backed by a 12-year warranty

The Rosemount 3095 MultiVariable transmitter is part of Emerson's broad range of intelligent, digital field devices that power the PlantWeb® digital plant architecture to improve plant efficiency by 2% and more through delivering asset optimization, process automation, and management execution. Further cost savings, increased plant availability, and enhanced safety and environmental compliance are achieved when MultiVariable transmitters are integrated into the PlantWeb architecture.

(1)Emerson won a 2005 Innovation Award from Flow Control magazine for the Rosemount 3051S Ultra for Flow transmitter.
