Los Alamitos, CA (August 20, 2002) -- Flowline's new single-float, two-wire LV50 series transmitter continuously monitors liquid levels with a proportional 4-20 mA signal output. Constructed of 316 stainless steel for use with a full range of chemically compatible liquids having a specific gravity of 0.75 or greater, the transmitter is able to operate at process temperatures ranging up to 300°F (148.9°C). A rugged NEMA 4X enclosure is provided for general-purpose transmitters, while NEMA 7 enclosures are supplied for hazardous areas. An explosion-proof model (LV51) is rated for use in Class I, Div. 1, Groups B, C and D, and Class II, Groups E, F an G environments. The transmitter is fully compatible with PLCs and Flowline's Universal Panel Meter (LI10 series) and Continuous Relay Controller (LC 52 series).

The transmitter is completely submerged and unaffected by fumes or vapors. Depending upon the application, unit range is from 5" (12.7 cm) to 72" (1.8 m). Accuracy is 0.25" in water.

A single float is attached to a stainless-steel rod which is installed through the top of the tank. Internal to the rod is a series of reed switches designed to open and close as the float changes with the level of the liquid. The internal magnets within the float will open or close the reed switches in a "2-3-2 at-a-time" sequence, which enables the transmitter to provide accurate level indication. With every movement of the float, either one additional switch closes or opens.

Price of the general-purpose LV50 transmitter starts at $310, or $410 for the explosion-proof model. Delivery is from stock.
