New Inexpensive Transformer Tester Helps Industry Improve Output

Alpha-Core, Inc. based in Bridgeport, CT introduces the PF-401 bench top test system for line-frequency power transformers up to 10KVA.

The PF 401 is an easy-to-use, go/no-go system for fast, in-process, final test or incoming inspection of transformers. Checks turn ratios and phasing of windings under open circuit conditions. Seven LED readouts display primary test voltage, up to five secondary voltages, no load current and core losses with an accuracy of +/- 0.25 percent. An audible alarm is available to signal no-pass status in addition to the LED readout. It takes only a few minutes to program high and low limits for primary current and open voltages of transformers with up to five secondary windings.

The PF 401 system includes a printer and a test fixture. The printer generates reports on rejected units or on entire production runs. The test fixture permits quick hook-up of transformers with flying leads. The system can handle transformers with primary and secondary voltages to 300V. The unit operates on either 110V or 220V/60Hz. The tester weighs 13 lb. (5.9 kg) and the printer weighs 10 lb. (4.5 kg).

The price of the full test system, including one-year limited warranty, is $3,100 FOB Bridgeport, CT. Delivery is stock to 6 weeks.
