Original Press Release:

Overhead Transfer Cart Maintains Open Aisleways, Simplifies Installation / Improves Flexibility

Wixom, Michigan -August, 2002

Durr Automation, Inc. has completed the development and testing of an Overhead Transfer Cart (OTC). The OTC is used in floor automation systems where clients want to maintain an open aisleway for pedestrians, operators, maintenance personnel and equipment. The OTC is an alternative method of transfer to that of the widely used Rail Guided Vehicle (RGV), which requires
that rails be permanently imbedded into the concrete floor. With the use of the OTC, reduced installation time and expenses are recognized. Omitting the floor rails of an RGV also offers additional flexibility to machining lines. OTC's can be relocated anywhere in the plant, with no special floor preparation.

Flexibility and modularity have driven our engineers to evaluate equipment requirements and designs. Durr's OTC can offer opportunities for faster changeover of automated machining lines as well as lower cost solutions in transfer technology. With the introduction of the OTC, Durr can eliminate the requirement for costly and timely concrete work at installation, de-commissioning or changeover. The OTC can be equipped with various
conveyor cross sections, safety options, hand held pendant, fixed or variable speed drives.

Further development of the OTC product has prompted the use of corner units for transferring around corners, break away crash protection, dual part transfers as well as incline/decline options.
