New DURO-TAK® Transdermal Adhesive Enables Creation of Dispersed Drug Patch Formulations

BRIDGEWATER, NJ, January 18, 2007 - A new DURO-TAK(R) acrylic solution pressure sensitive adhesive designed to enable dispersed drug patch formulations has been developed by the Transdermal business group (www.transdermaladhesives.com) of National Adhesives. DURO-TAK Elite 87-901A is supplied in a non-polar cyclohexane solvent and is targeted at specific drugs that have low solubility in non-polar solvents. "The purpose of this product is to simplify the preparation of a dispersed drug-in-adhesive patch by reducing the potential for supersaturation," said Dr. Paul Foreman, Principal Scientist, National Adhesives. "Cyclohexane was chosen for its low polarity, relatively low boiling point and good coating qualities." DURO-TAK Elite 87-901A joins the family of Elite DURO-TAK products, which gives formulators non-reactive compositions with good wear properties.
