Transceivers offer ESD protection up to ±15 kV.

Press Release Summary:

Series SP3070 includes nine 3 V RS485 transceivers with typical power consumption of 150 nW in shutdown mode. Six models have slew rate limited outputs for operation on long or uncontrolled data buses. Three units offer data rates up to 16 Mbps for high-speed signaling. All include failsafe protection, internal current limit, and automatic thermal shutdown. Control inputs are hot-swap protected and internally held inactive to protect against false outputs during power transitions.

Sipex Introduces a Family of Nine Enhanced 3V RS485 Transceivers

The SP3070 family offers enhanced performance in an industry standard footprint

(Milpitas, CA - December 7, 2004) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ: SIPX), a leading provider of high-performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), today announced a new family of nine 3V RS485 transceivers with very low power consumption and high ESD. All nine products in this family are fully compatible upgrades to standard RS485 and RS422 transceivers and include many advanced features making them ideal for use in industrial, telecom and consumer applications.

These transceivers feature extremely high input impedance and low input current. All devices have enhanced ESD protection up to ±15kV (IEC1000-4-2 Air-gap test and Human Body Model). Typical power consumption in shutdown mode is a mere 150nW. Six members of the family (SP3070E, SP3071E, SP3072E, SP3073E, SP3074E and SP3075E) have slew rate limited outputs for operation on long or uncontrolled data buses. Three devices (SP3076E, SP3077E and SP3078E) are designed for high speed signaling and support data rates up to 16Mbps.

Other advanced features include enhanced failsafe protection, internal current limit and automatic thermal shutdown. Control inputs are "hot-swap" protected and are internally held inactive to protect against false outputs during power transitions. Devices are available in commercial or industrial temperature ranges.

SP3070E Family Key Features (typical):
o 3V operation
o +/-15kV ESD protection
o Enhanced slew-rate limited (except SP3076E/SP3077E/SP3078E)
o Very low shutdown current: 150nW (no shutdown mode in SP3071E/SP3074E/SP3077E)
o Allow up to 256 transceivers on the bus (1/8th unit load)
o Hot-swap protection
o Industry standard footprint

Pricing and Availability
All devices are available now in PDIP and SOIC packaging. Pricing begins at $1.20 in 1,000 piece quantities.

About Sipex Interface Products
