Original Press Release:

New, Versatile Tramp Oil Separator Named "Freddy" Available

(Walpole, MA - May 2003) "Freddy," a new Tramp Oil Separator has been introduced by Sanborn Technologies. The Freddy TOS removes oil from water in a variety of applications, including machine tool sumps, parts washing systems, and wastewater. The unit runs continuously while the equipment is operating. Further, it is portable to conveniently move from one location to another.

In operation, contaminated coolant enters Freddy's coarse filter system to remove large particles and debris. The pre-filtered fluid is subsequently pumped to the top of the TOS' tank and passes down through the coalescing media. This permanent media removes the tramp oil and floats it to the top of the system's tank where it is siphoned off into a collection weir. The cleaned fluid then enters an optional ultra-violet chamber where bacterial growth is controlled, and then is returned to the machine tool, washing station, or tank.

The Freddy TOS' filter cartridge can be easily removed and cleaned, and its diaphragm pump provides low shear on the oil to improve the separation at a flow rate up to 1.5 gallons per minute. The Freddy TOS comes in two models, either electronically driven (110/1/60) or air operated. Freddy has a tank capacity of 13 gallons (50 liters).
