Rugged Impact Traffic Doors Combine Ease Of Operation With Security

The steel-faced, double-acting Steel-lite traffic doors are engineered by RubbAir Door Division, Ayer, Massachusetts, to expedite motorized and non-motorized material flow and personnel movement between areas in a facility while providing a high degree of security. These lightweight, yet extremely rugged high-performance doors achieve secure, safe operations by utilizing special materials and incorporating several unique designs into the door's fabrication.

Constructed of a unique shock-absorbing metal sub-frame and lightweight foam insulated core assembly, the Steel-lite doors are faced with a low temperature, corrosion and crack resistant galvanized steel facing onto which high-impact, low-friction ionomer bumpers are installed. This configuration provides the ideal combination of strength for long-term operation and minimal maintenance, with excellent, effective security between areas.

Other construction features make these doors invaluable in applications where facility security is a vital concern. (For example, Steel-lite carrier and mailing vestibule doors have received U.S. Postal Service approval.) The door's large vision panels are double-glazed, 1/8" thick, and UL listed as burglary resistant. In addition, detention grade low inertia hardware and detention grade combination bottom bearing and jamb guard are standard features, with detention grade tamperproof fasteners used. Where additional protection is desired, several optional features are available, including vision panels equipped with 5/8" diameter steel security bars, and cane bolts at both the top and bottom of the door.

The Steel-lite doors can be readily installed since all doors in this series are custom manufactured to precisely fit the specific door opening. Plus the exact fit serves to protect against air infiltration. Doors have a full height, heavy-duty mount assembly. Other features that add to the long-term, low
maintenance, safe operation of the bump-open/self-closing Steel-lite doors include: safety cushioned nosing, full perimeter reinforced airseals, and galvanized cam shields. Steel-lite doors also offer the advantage that they may be used with automatic operators.
