TPE Grades are bondable to polyethylene.

Press Release Summary:

Available in 32, 40, 60 and 70 Shore A Hardness, 4 overmolding grades of Maxelast® TPEs can be used for bonding onto PE (polyethylene) used for handles, grips, cosmetic cases, and other applications. Chemical bond between soft elastomeric alloy and rigid PE substrate results in products that are slip resistant as well as ergonomic and soft to touch. Additionally, TPE provides shock absorption for grips. Grades do not require any drying and can be colored.

APS Introduces Latest Bondable-to-Polyethylene TPE Grades from Maxelast

Applications Include Handles, Grips, Cosmetic Cases

Romulus, MI – A new series of overmolding (OM) grades of Maxelast® TPEs for bonding onto PE used for handles, grips, cosmetic cases and other applications is now available from APS (Alliance Polymers and Services LLC).  APS is the exclusive North American distributor of Polymax Maxelast TPEs, the largest producer of TPEs in Asia.

According to company officials, the 4 new grades, available in a Shore A Hardness range of 32, 40, 60 and 70, offer an excellent chemical bond between the soft elastomeric alloy and a rigid PE (polyethylene) substrate.  The results are products that are ergonomic and soft to the touch as well as slip resistant.  An additional benefit is that the TPE provides a high level of shock absorption to grips.

The 4 additions to the firm’s economical Maxelast OM grades require no drying, are easily colored, process easily and provide superior bonding performance and consistent mechanical properties when used in any TPE overmolding applications.  Choice of 4 Shore A hardnesses enable the TPE to provide the needed level of feel for almost any product.

APS (Alliance Polymers and Services LLC) is an established TPE technology resource offering service, technical support and TPE materials for consumer and industrial applications.  Company offerings include Maxelast® TPEs, Viprene™ TPVs, new Zythane™ TPUs, TPE alloys, compounding services and custom and standard soft elastomer formulations.
