TPE Alloys suit molding or coextruding applications.

Press Release Summary:

Featuring 20 to 90 Shore A hardness range, Softlink 900 Series TPEs allow lowering of friction coefficient to improve abrasion resistance. Off-white or easy-to-color compounds can be processed without preheating or drying and offer matte finish. Used in 2-shot molding, compounds can substitute for silicone, latex, or rubber in power tools, hand tools, appliances, and consumer products.

TPE Solutions Develops Grades Of Soft And Ultrasoft Overmold TPEs Grades That Other Suppliers Do Not Offer

With a Range of 20 to 90 Shore A, Two-shot Molding and Coextrusion Processors Have a Wider Choice

SHIRLEY, MA (November 1, 2005) - Until now, injection molders and firms making co-extruded products were mostly limited in their choices to between 50 and 70 Shore A hardness when seeking a soft TPE alloy for 2 shot molding (overmolding onto engineering plastics including ABS, PC, ABS/PC, ASA, Nylon 6, Nylon 66, COPA, COPE and TPU substrates) and coextrusion.

Now, TPE Solutions Inc., the new one-stop resource for off-the-shelf and custom TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) compounds, offers a broader range of overmold and coextrusion-grade TPEs with a Shore A hardness range from as low as 20 to as high as 90 Shore A. These grades also offer exceptional tensile strength, tear strength, and durability compared to competitive products at an equivalent durometer. The materials can offer a matte surface as well. They are being marketed under the trade name Softlink 900 Series TPEs. The company claims they are the only TPE compounder to offer such a broad range. According to Jonas Angus, President of TPE Solutions, all grades are readily available for sampling and shipping in 55 lb. bags all the way through gaylords.

This new product line of soft touch TPE alloys expands potential product applications where they were once limited by Shore A hardness range offerings. As an additional benefit, these off-white or easy-to-color compounds can often be processed without preheating or drying. They can be injection molded or extruded, with the coefficient of friction capable of being lowered to improve the abrasion resistance. These Softlink 900 Series TPE grades also are recommended as an excellent substitute for silicone, latex, rubber and other types of TPEs.

Suggested applications include, but are not limited to power tools, hand tools, appliances, consumer products such as shaving products, toothbrushes and pen grips, and for weatherseals. Again, the TPE alloy grades can be either injection molded or extruded.

TPE Solutions, Inc., founded in 2004 by world renowned TPE expert Jonas Angus, stands apart from most TPE material suppliers by offering all types of TPE technologies, which include olefinic elastomers, TPVs, SEBS, MPR, TPU, COPE , COPA as well as super TPVs and specialty alloys. Applications for TPE Solutions' compounds include automotive applications, building and construction products, consumer goods (durable and non-durable), appliances, electrical and electronics products, fluid delivery goods, housewares, medical devices, packaging, sporting goods and telecommunications. Many of the TPEs can also be formulated to meet NSF and FDA specifications.
