Original Press Release:

New, Heavy Duty, Vandal-Resistant Pushbutton Series Developed By ITW Switches Meets The Most Stringent Requirements

Harwood Heights, Ill. - Designed for extremely rugged applications, ITW Switches' new Series 76-95 offers designers the ultimate in a tough, sealed pushbutton switch that can handle a heavy-duty electrical load as well as a nasty environment. ITW Switches is an Illinois Tool Works Company.

The main switch body and button are created using rugged stainless steel with front mount styling. The vandal-resistant chrome button and bezel protrude a maximum of 0.10 in. (2.5mm) from the front panel including sealing washer. This low profile makes it difficult for vandals to pry the switch from its mounting. It also can withstand impacts of significant force.

The new Series 76-95 offers both a choice of snap-in basic switches (single-pole or double-pole). The snap-in switch elements are UL listed and CSA certified and feature silver or gold contacts with current-carrying capacities up to 10A. Exact current ratings are (silver contacts) from 3A at 28VDC to 10A at 125VAC and (enhanced gold contacts) from 8A at 28VDC to 6A at 115VAC. This series also operates reliably in a wide temperature range -- from -22°F (-300C) up to 221°F (105°C). In addition, the new series meets the IP67 rating which exceeds NEMA 4X and is panel sealed.

These are just a few of the applications for which this series is ideal: Vandal-resistant requirements, military environments, robust industrial requirements, flush-with-panel requirements, process control, railway carriage equipment, external security door controls, elevators, marine vessels, crane gantry equipment, earth moving equipment, marine service, and medical instrumentation.

ITW Switches manufactures a wide variety of proprietary, standard, and custom electrical switches -- pushbutton, rocker, paddle, slide, leaf, snap-action, and sealed -- for worldwide markets including telecommunication, machine tool, automotive, appliance, entertainment, aerospace, and computer products. ISO 9001 Certified and headquartered near Chicago, the company has three other facilities worldwide: Portsmouth, England; Taiwan, Republic of China; and Singapore.
