Original Press Release:

Durable, High-Resolution LBT-1503OC is Caltron's Newest Touchscreen Monitor

Fremont, CA – The LBT-1503OC, featuring responsive “P-Cap” touch technology found in most smartphones, is Caltron Industries’ latest addition to its roster of 15-inch touchscreen monitors.

Caltron, the Silicon Valley manufacturer that led the move toward thinner, lighter LCD monitors in the 1990s, built the LBT-1503OC with adaptable open-frame metal construction. The open-frame design, a signature feature of Caltron products since the mid-2000s, allows for easy integration into existing HMI applications, even older formats.

The LBT-1503OC is expected to be implemented in a range of industries that require durable touchscreen monitors for heavy-duty use, including retail, interactive kiosks, aviation, ATMs, and healthcare.

P-Cap, also known as “projected capacitive technology”, is superior to other touch technologies such as resistive and surface acoustic wave for two major reasons:

• Multiple points of contact can be recognized simultaneously, so users are able to complete touchscreen tasks quickly and efficiently.

• P-Cap is ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications. It is moisture- and dust-resistant, stable when exposed to variances in temperature, and unaffected by ambient noise.

Caltron also outfitted the LBT-1503OC with LED backlighting, a significant improvement over traditional CCFL backlight technology. In addition to providing outstanding 1024 x 768 XGA resolution to the LCD panel, LED backlighting uses 20 percent less energy and contains no harmful mercury.

The touchscreen monitor’s 15-inch size is popular among businesses seeking a mid-size screen that offers outstanding visibility in low-light conditions. The LBT-1503OC has a brightness of 360 nits (candlelight/ square meter), a unit of visible-light intensity.

Video capabilities of the new touchscreen monitor include standard video graphic array input and optional inputs for BNC connector, S-video, digital visual interface and composite video.

Caltron offers engineering assistance to ensure its products are successfully integrated into existing systems and clients are completely satisfied.

Who is Caltron?

Since 1997, Caltron, Inc. has been providing OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and system integrators with high quality open frame monitor technology. Caltron has also provided North American retailers and businesses monitors and displays suitable for the modern economy. Since the dawn of the new century, LCD displays have quickly taken over the market that used to be dominated by CRTS (tube monitors/TVs). Caltron was one of the business leaders at the front of the revolution that's allowed thinner, lighter, better displays through LCD technology.

Caltron's latest generation of open frame monitors come with a variety of options, including PCAP (projected capacitive) multi-touch or 5-wire resistive single touch displays. All of these displays come in a steady metal frame with an industry-proven, professional design that ensures backward and future compatibility for years to come.
