Original Press Release:

New Touch-Sensitive Keyboard for Industrial and Public Use

EAO Switch, an expert leader within the Human Machine Interface industry, introduces a new touch-sensitive keyboard suitable for both the rugged and abrasive use for both industrial and public use. This keyboard mounts underneath any non-conductive substrate such as glass, plastic, ceramic, or even wood up to 10mm thick. In turn, these types of covers/screens can be an excellent source of protection against cleaning agents, fluids, moisture and dirt penetration, and damage from shock and impact. Suitable applications can range from:

o Aggressive environments polluted by dust, grease or ink particles similar to printing machines
o Sterile environments cleaned using ultrasonic techniques such as medical equipment
o Hygienic environments cleaned using pressure washing similar to food packaging equipment
o Explosive atmospheres which must be free of contacts and electro-static discharge
o Public areas susceptible to vandalism such as public-access internet kiosks

Its thin width allows for these units to be mounted in existing machines without great modification. Their layouts can also be designed and configured custom to each application using our simple-to-use proprietary software. The customer can custom design the appearance with color schemes, logos, and designs, vary the position of the function keys, and alter the sensitivity depending upon the material of the protective screen. Standard keyboard layouts exist for 10 different languages making these units suitable for use across the world.

The keyboard, available for use with PS2 or USB interface, is compatible with both PC and Mac operating systems.
