Original Press Release:

The New Touch PC - Materials Testing in Comfort

Zwick's newly-developed Touch PC is designed to make materials-testing machines even easier and more efficient to operate. The Touch PC combines a user-friendly touch-screen with a powerful, integrated embedded industrial computer. Space is saved by mounting the system directly on the materials-testing machine. The flexible operating position - it can be rotated, swivelled and tilted, raised or lowered -ensures operator comfort and simplifies handling. For example, during set-up the operator always has the status display, showing force, travel and machine status, in his/her field of vision

A particular feature of this system is its quick, safe operation. The Touch PC allows simple, intuitive use of the testXpert® software - at a touch!

The Touch PC is ideal for demanding industrial and laboratory applications. Its design means that vibrations are non-critical, making it resistant to shocks. The robust, attractively styled die-cast magnesium casing provides optimum protection against dust and dirt. Additional keys positioned to the front of the scratch-resistant industrial touch-screen cover the most important functions. The frontal USB port allows data to be saved quickly and easily on a USB stick, while there is naturally provision for connecting an external keyboard or mouse to the Touch PC.

The FaststartXP program supplied with the package allows the operator to choose one of two modes: Runtime or Designtime. With Runtime the operating system is in read only/write protected mode and thus cannot be altered by the user - important for shared workstations. Data from the testXpert® II may still be saved via a USB stick, network or extra partition. In Designtime mode the system can be used without restrictions.

Short paths between PC and specimen, plus simple, safe operation make the powerful Touch PC a winner - especially for series testing.
