Tool Coating permits high-speed milling of hardened steels.

Press Release Summary:

Consisting of nano-composite material for hardness and resistance to oxidation, TH coating helps increase tool life, while improving finish quality of pre-hardened and hardened steels. Because coating generates little heat when machining, it is suited for dry cutting.

VTC and Hitachi's New TH Coating Permits High-Speed Direct Milling of Hardened Steels

Schaumburg, IL - (June 7, 2004) Vega Tool Corporation's (VTC) Hitachi tooling has again set the standard for coating technology with Hitachi's new TH formula. Consisting of a nano-composite material (for hardness and resistance to oxidation), TH coating allows for the high-speed direct milling of hardened steels. In fact machining efficiency is double that of tooling using conventional coatings.

Hitachi's TH coating also increases tool life, while improving the finish quality of pre-hardened (35HRC) and hardened steels (45-60 HRC).

Because the TH generates less heat when machining, it is suitable for dry cutting. Along with carbide tooling, VTC's Hitachi line includes indexable insertable tooling. Indexable insertable tooling is designed for the high-feed machining of hardened materials. This line removes up to three times more cubic inches of metal per minute than competitor tooling.

Hitachi tooling is best suited for automotive, mold & die, aerospace, medical and oil patch industries.
