NKK Switches' Antistatic B Series Toggles and Pushbuttons Suit Applications With Size and Space Restrictions
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (July 16, 2002) - NKK Switches, the original designer of electromechanical switches exclusively for PCB mounting, introduces the antistatic B series of toggles and pushbuttons-the world's first switch products approved by the Quality Assessment System of the International Electromechanical Commission (IEC).
These switches, rated for flammability at UL94V-0, feature antistatic construction that prevents static discharge to the contacts from the operator. In addition, the subminiature, washable, PCB mount switches are grounded to the PC board using a carbon impregnated bushing and support bracket.
The smooth 6-mm diameter bushing and standard .100 X .100-inch PC
terminal spacing ease panel layout and PCB design. The switches'
subminiature size of .516 X .346-inch makes them a natural choice for engineers designing applications that have size and space restrictions. Additionally, straight, vertical, right angle and bracketed models are specified.
The B series of subminiature, washable, antistatic and PCB mount
switches, feature NKK's patented and award winning Sliding Twin
Crossbar (STC) contact mechanism. The innovative design guarantees unparalleled logic level switching reliability, as the gold plated contacts are wiped clean with every actuation. Combining rounded movable and stationary contacts, the STC provides a smooth contact feel as well.
All B series toggles and pushbuttons are offered in single and double pole, with a comprehensive offering of momentary and maintained circuits. The alternate action pushbutton models have a latchdown feature that provides visible, audible and tactile feedback.
For the toggle switches, colorful snap-on paddles and bat handle
sleeves are offered, while additional accessory caps for the
pushbuttons come in various diameters and colors, hence making this series one of the most varied and comprehensive in the industry.
With a sealed body construction, B series switches can be safely
subjected to automated wave soldering and washing techniques, which save time and money.
Rated at 0.4VA maximum @28V AC/DC maximum, the logic-level B series' contact timing is nonshorting.
