NKK Switches Introduces Environmentally Sealed Toggles

WT Series is Engineered for Use in Outdoor and Harsh Applications

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (April 6, 2006) - NKK Switches continues to expand its product offerings in the industrial markets with the introduction of the environmentally sealed WT series of toggle switches.

Designed to meet the needs of applications requiring an environmentally sealed solution, the WT series of toggles is rated at 10A @ 125V AC and 6A @ 250V AC or 10A @ 30V DC. The sealed construction of these standard size toggles conforms to IP67 and IP60 of IEC60529 Standards and is engineered for use in outdoor and harsh applications. The WT toggles incorporate a specially designed switching mechanism for breaking light welds, which qualifies these toggles to IEC 61058 (UL 61058-1). Minimal contact bounce is achieved with a specially designed and interlocked switch mechanism.

The WT series of toggles feature a single unit construction of the bushing and the top of the housing, giving this environmentally sealed toggle switch added protection from harsh elements. An outer housing of heat resistant resin meets UL 94V-0 flammability standards and provides high arc and tracking resistance. The actuator and base are epoxy sealed to prevent entry of contaminants. The bushing features both an inner and outer sealing ring. These switches also feature an anti-jamming design to protect contacts from damage due to excessive downward force on the actuator.

The WT series is available in single-pole and double-pole, momentary or maintained actions, and in six circuit configurations. Threaded bushings are 12mm for standard panel cut out mounting. Engineers can specify solder lug, screw or wire lead terminals. Solder lug and screw terminal models meet IP67 of IEC 529 Standards at front panel (dust tight but not water protected). Wire leads are sheathed with heat resistant vinyl in accordance with UL 1015 and CSA TEW 105 Standards for Appliance Wiring Material (AWM). These models conform fully to IP67 of the IEC Standards at both front and behind panel.

Mechanical life for all maintained circuits is 50,000 operations minimum, 30,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits. The electrical life is 15,000 operations minimum for all configurations. The operating temperature range is -30°C through +70°C (-22°F through +158°F). Dielectric strength is rated 1,500V AC minimum.
