NKK Announces New WT/WR Environmentally Sealed Toggle and Rocker Switches

Environmentally Sealed Switches Offer Ideal Solution for Outdoor, Extreme Applications

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (October 1, 2007) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switching devices, continues to expand its product offerings for the industrial markets with the WT and WR series of cost effective, environmentally sealed toggle and rocker switches.

Engineered to meet the needs of applications requiring an environmentally sealed and robust solution, WT and WR series switches conform to IP67 (front panel) and IP60 (back panel) of IEC60529 Standards and are designed for use in outdoor and harsh applications. Featuring single unit construction for added protection from harsh elements, these devices are constructed of heat resistant resin meeting UL94V-0 flammability ratings.

Both the WT series of toggles and the WR series of rockers, incorporate a specially designed switching mechanism for breaking light welds, qualifying them to IEC 61058 (UL 61058-1). These series of devices are available in a wide selection of circuit configurations including maintained and momentary options. Both actuator options are available with solder lug, screw and wire lead terminations. The wire leads are sheathed with heat resistant vinyl in accordance with UL 1015 and CSA TEW 105 Standards for Appliance Wiring Material (AWM), and conform to IP67 for front and back panel. In addition, the WR series of rockers can be specified with .250 quick connect terminals to reduce and simplify assembly time.

The WT series of environmentally sealed toggles is rated at 10A @ 125V AC and 6A @ 250V AC or 10A @ 30V DC. They can be specified in single or double pole models. The bushing features both an inner and outer sealing ring. Bushings are also constructed with an anti-jamming design, protecting contacts from damage due to excessive downward force. Mechanical life for maintained circuits is 50,000 operations minimum, 30,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits. Electrical life is 15,000 operations minimum for all configurations.

The WR series of environmentally sealed rockers is rated at 15A @ 125/250 AC and 15A @ 30V DC and is offered in single pole. Mechanical life is rated at 30,000 operations for minimum for all circuits. Electrical life is rated 15,000 minimum for maintained circuits and 10,000 operations minimum for momentary circuits. Agency approvals include UL and C-UL Recognition, VDE, and EN conformity.
