New Position Feedback Tie-Rod Cylinder

April 11, 2002, Monee, Illinois - TRD Manufacturing, a Bimba Company, is pleased to announce their new Position Feedback Tie-Rod Cylinder (PFLF). TRD combines their standard heavy duty TA Series cylinder construction with a linear resistive transducer (LRT), to provide continuous position sensing. As the piston moves, a voltage output is created that is proportional to
cylinder position, and provides the information needed for system operation. The PFLF is ideal for applications where the use of external magnetic position sensing switches is impractical, where variations in cylinder stroke or speed are needed, or where an operation requires constant monitoring of cylinder position.

The TRD Pneumatic Control System (PCS) is designed to control the PFLF. The system is a closed-loop electronic controller with pneumatic valves that can accurately position the cylinder rod and hold it in position with various degrees of accuracy and force. The system accomplishes the long term goal of using pneumatic technology to accurately stop and hold the rod at any desired position.

The TRD PFLF is available in eight bore sizes, 1-1/2" to 8", in stroke lengths up to 24", and in most NFPA mounts. Options include bumpers, extended piston rod, and optional port locations. TRD also offers a Digital Panel Meter that provides power to the cylinder and enables dual set point or scaled analog output functions.
