Ticona to Showcase Key High-Performance Engineering Polymers for E/E Components at DesignCon 2013


Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, is showcasing its high-performance polymers used in the design and manufacturing of high-performance E/E components at Booth #523 during DesignCon 2013 Expo on Jan. 29 and 30 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in California.

The exhibit will highlight key high-temperature engineering polymers:

· Vectra® / Zenite® liquid crystal polymer (LCP)
Inherently flame resistant, UL 94 V-0 and halogen-free, this family of LCPs offers a combination of high temperature resistance (up to 340°C, short term, for lead-free soldering), high flow, low mold shrinkage, high stiffness, excellent dimensional stability and a wide range of dielectric properties.

Vectra / Zenite LCPs are a favorite choice to meet the future trends of miniaturization in the electronics industry. These materials allow high-precision molding for applications such as connectors and sockets with high pin density and ultra-thin part geometries down to 0.1mm wall thickness.

· Celanex® XFR® thermoplastic polyester (PBT)
"Drop-in" option for use in eco-friendly components. Glass-reinforced grades are available with UL94 V-0 ratings down to 0.4 mm.

· Celanex® 16 Series FR PBT
Flame retardant grades offer high temperature resistance, low CTE, excellent dimensional stability, and exhibit excellent long-term resistance to hot/humid environments, and have a high CTI (up to 600 volts depending on the grade).

· Fortron® polyphenylene sulfide (PPS)

Meets the UL94 V-0 flammability rating without the addition of flame retardants and has temperature resistance up to 270°C (short term) for lead-free soldering.

Fortron PPS exhibits an excellent balance of properties; it is stiff, strong, hard and tough, and has outstanding chemical and oxidative resistance with a high continuous-use temperature for applications where exacting electrical properties are required. Fortron PPS flows well in molding to fill long, thin and complex shapes and is ideal for use in applications where exacting electrical properties are required.
