Ticona to Accept Award for Innovative Composite Pipe and Deliver Automotive Thermoplastics Paper at JEC Americas 2013
Ticona, the engineering polymers business of Celanese Corporation, will join Composite Fluid Transfer and Valéron Strength Films at the JEC Americas 2013
Composites Show Conference in Boston where they will receive an Innovation Award in the “Pipes Water Management” category at 4 p.m. on Oct. 2, Wednesday.
Ticona will showcase the award winning Fiberflex®-11 composite pressure pipe at its booth, #G 22, which will also display Celstran® CFR-TP (continuous fiber reinforced thermoplastics) for unidirectional tapes, rods and profiles, and Fortron® PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) for use in light and tough components that can reduce weight, drive down costs and perform in extreme environments.
The innovative Fiberflex-11 pipe from Composite Fluid Transfer is designed for general water transport infrastructure applications. The composite pipe incorporates Celstran CFR-TP from Ticona, which is wound around a specially designed, extruded thin-wall HDPE thermoplastic liner and heat consolidated. The pipe construction adds an outside layer of HDPE film manufactured by Valéron to protect the system from both ultra-violet and abrasion damage.
In addition, Ticona will present a technical paper, titled “Energy Absorption of automotive-type beam structures in high-speed crush testing,” at 9:30 a.m., Oct. 4, Friday, as part of the Thermoplastics segment of the corresponding l.C.S. lnnovative Composites Summit.
