Thru-Hole Tactile Switches offer process sealed construction.

Press Release Summary:

With 130, 200, 300, and 500 gF actuation force choices, RoHs-compliant ST Series includes nominal and right angle versions. Heat pressure tab staking process prevents top and actuator separation from switch body, maintaining watertight seal integrity. Construction includes stainless steel cover with silver-plated brass terminals and silver-plated phosphor bronze contacts. Optional 130 gF stainless steel dome contact increases 100,000 cycle typ operating life to 1,000,000 cycles.

Original Press Release:

CIT RELAY & SWITCH ST Series 1,000,000 Cycle RoHS Compliant Process Sealed Tactile Switches

Maple Grove, Minnesota - CIT RELAY & SWITCH introduces the ST Series thru-hole tactile switches. This newest addition to the CIT switch line also offers a right angle version, the STV. The ST Series sealed switch offers an improved heat pressure tab staking process that prevents top and actuator separation from the switch body. This process, unique to CIT Relay & Switch, maintains integrity of the watertight seal.

Overall switch dimensions of the ST Series is a compact, space-saving package of 7.2mm x 7.2mm. The STP option includes a grounding terminal. The right-angle version, the STV, offers a similarly compact package of 8.0mm x 8.0mm. The ST Series and its right angle version, the STV, offer actuation force choices of 130gF, 200gF, 300gF and 500gF - providing a distinctive tactile feel. The ST Series construction includes a stainless steel cover with silver-plated brass terminals and silver-plated phosphor bronze contacts. An optional 130gF stainless steel dome contact increases the ST Series operating life to 1,000,000 cycles. The gold-plated contact & terminal option makes the ST Series a solid choice for dry-circuit applications. The actuator and housing of the switch are 4/6 Nylon. Standard actuator height options range from 4.7mm to 10.0mm. Electrical ratings are max 50mA @ 48VDC silver and max 10mA gold. Minimum operating current for both silver and gold is 1mA, with an electrical life of 100,000 cycles typically. Dielectric strength is 250Vrms minimum with insulation resistance greater than 100Megohm. The actuator travel on the ST Series is 0.30mm ± 0.1mm.

The ST Series applications include instrumentation, industrial control, medical, automotive, telecommunication, household appliances, heating control systems, computer mouse, automation, door entry systems, and remote controls, but its applications possibilities are limitless.
