Three Federal-Mogul Technologies Among Finalists for Automotive News PACE(TM) Award

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- Three innovative vehicle technologies from Federal-Mogul Corporation (OTCBB:FDMLQ) have been selected as finalists and a fourth has received an honorable mention citation in the 2007 Automotive News PACE (Premier Automotive Suppliers' Contributions to Excellence) Awards competition.

Considered the benchmark for innovation among suppliers of vehicle components and subsystems, the PACE Award honors organizations that have embraced innovation or adapted and reinvented themselves to meet the demands of original equipment manufacturers. Award winners will be announced in April 2007.

The Company's PACE Award finalists are Federal-Mogul Goetze Diamond Coating (GDC®) for Piston Rings, High Temperature Alloy (HTA(TM)) Gaskets and LocatGuard® 2700 Sleeving Technology. Federal-Mogul's Commercial Vehicle (CV) Friction Lock(TM) heavy-duty disc brake backing plate was awarded an honorable mention.

"Leading technology and innovation is a key competitive advantage in the global vehicle industry," said Federal-Mogul Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Jose© Maria Alapont. "Success in this rigorous competition is a clear indication of our commitment to provide our customers with world-class breakthrough technology and product leadership. We are very proud to lead the way with three PACE Award nominations and one honorable mention."

Developed by Federal-Mogul engineers in Burscheid, Germany, the Diamond Coating is a simulated chrome dispersion coating featuring embedded nano-diamonds which, when applied to the running face of a piston ring, significantly outperforms existing chromium-ceramic coatings. Prior to the development of the Diamond Coating, the physical properties of hard-chrome coatings prevented the use of diamond micro particles to increase component scuff and wear resistance.

Federal-Mogul HTA gaskets are single- or multi-layer-steel exhaust gaskets engineered to withstand the extremely high exhaust gas and ambient temperature conditions encountered in today's heavy-duty engines. Each gasket combines a proprietary ultra-high-temperature coating with a selection of high heat resistant alloys to solve a variety of severe sealing issues arising from the introduction of next-generation commercial diesel engines. The HTA solution was developed by engineers at the Federal-Mogul Sealing Systems facility in Skokie, Illinois.

LocatGuard 2700, developed by the Federal-Mogul Systems Protection engineering group in France, is an innovative sleeving technology that provides critical wear protection for fuel line applications. This technology features an exclusive heat-activated yarn and sophisticated, innovative knitting pattern that resist fraying and can easily be integrated into the original equipment manufacturer's production operation.

CV Friction Lock, the PACE Award honorable mention recipient, is the first affordable, effective mechanical brake safety solution that prevents disc pad separation under the high-temperature, high-vibration conditions commonly encountered in today's on-highway trucks. This technology replaces conventional stamped-steel friction backing plates and multi-piece friction retention systems with an innovative one-piece plate featuring cast locking elements that prevent catastrophic pad failure. CV Friction Lock was developed by Federal-Mogul engineers in Bad Camberg, and made in Marienheide, Germany.

Federal-Mogul has received two previous Automotive News PACE Awards - for the Monosteel® Piston (2006) and Wagner® ThermoQuiet® One-Piece Disc Brake Pad (2003); and two honorable mentions for FLAT-INSTALL(TM) Crankshaft Seal (2006) and LEM® (Liquid Elastomer Molded) Gasket (2006).
