CLEVELAND, OH - May 28, 2002 - Jergens, Inc. has announced a new maintenance/repair kit for damaged threads. Each Jergens MRO Thread Repair Kit includes everything needed to make a quick permanent repair to damaged threads, including thread repair inserts, correctly-sized drill and tap, and an installation tool. Intended to offer on-the-spot convenience, each kit is packaged in a durable transparent tube for storage in toolbox or work area.

Kits are available with thread sizes from 1/4" to 1" and from 5mm to 14mm, in coarse or fine threads. The inserts have two or four locking keys, depending on size, to hold them in position in the parent material. The insert construction is C1215 steel with the locking keys manufactured from 302 stainless steel.

Thread repair inserts are used for rapid repair of damaged threads in a wide range of materials. They can also be used to eliminate re-machining costs when holes are improperly placed. Additionally, the inserts can be used to bolster the strength of tapped holes in soft parent materials such as aluminum and magnesium.
