Thr Dyson Corp. to Supply Fasteners for the Manhattan Bridge Rehabilitation

The Dyson Corporation in Painesville, Ohio has been awarded a contract from Skanska Koch, Inc. to provide bolt, nut, washer and plate assemblies for the rewrapping of the main cable, and hand rope cable replacement on the Manhattan Bridge Rehabilitation project. Originally completed in 1909, the Manhattan Bridge is one of several suspension bridges that span the East River. Accomodating vehicular, mass transit, pedestrian and bicycle traffic, it has been described as the Workhorse of the East River. The contract is part of the reconstruction project by Skanska for the New York City Department of Transportation.

The Dyson Corporation, founded in 1884, is a premire customized forgings and ASME certified domestic fastener manufacturer. In addition to heavy bridge construction, their products can be found in many infrastucture projects including pipelines, locks and dams, nuclear power plants, wind energy installations, as well as navy ship rehabilitation and OEM components.

Dyson's new state-of-the-art heat treating units and 2 part formers, installed this year, have doubled production capacity of the hot formed parts. This complements Dyson's added machining capability, which has recently expanded from 5 CNC lathes and a milling machine to 13 lathes and 2 mills, with added thread rolling capacity for bolts and coil rod products.
