Thin Film Resistors feature E/H MIL-PRF-55342-qualified design.

Press Release Summary:

Intended for military and aerospace applications, E/H MIL-PRF-55342-qualified M55342 Series features ratings down to 49.9 W at ±25 ppm/°C TCR and 0.1% tolerance and 10 W at 1.0% tolerance. Electroplated nickel barrier layer enables operation at temperatures up to +150°C, while high-purity alumina substrate allows for power ratings up to 1,000 mW. Non-inductive resistors also feature max working voltage of 200 V and less than -25 dB noise.

Vishay Extends Resistance Range of E/H MIL-55342-Qualified Resistor Chips in Compact 2208, 2010, and 2512 Case Sizes to 49.9 ohms at a 0.1 % Tolerance, and 10 ohms at 1.0 %

MALVERN, Pa. - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced that it has extended the resistance range of its E/H MIL-PRF-55342-qualified thin film resistor chips in the compact 2208, 2010, and 2512 case sizes. Allowing for lower resistance values in high-reliability applications, the enhanced devices feature ratings down to 49.9 W at ±25 ppm/°C TCR and a 0.1 % tolerance, and 10 W at a 1.0 % tolerance.

Intended for high-reliability military and aerospace applications with stringent performance requirements, the enhanced E/H resistor chips offer stable film and performance characteristics of 200 ppm at + 70°C for 10,000 hours. Established reliability is assured through 100% screening and extensive environmental lot testing, through which the devices have been rated for an "R" failure rate level (0.01 % per 1000 hours).

The resistors' all-sputtered wraparound terminations ensure excellent adhesion and dimensional uniformity. Exact dimensions and clean, straight edges are produced by a precise wafer-sawing process. The E/H devices' electroplated nickel barrier layer enables operation at temperatures up to +150°C, and their high-purity alumina substrate allows for high power ratings.

In addition to very low noise of less than -25 dB and a low voltage coefficient of ±0.5 ppm/V, the non-inductive resistors feature an absolute TCR down to ±25 ppm/°C, laser-trimmed tolerances down to 0.1%, and typical wraparound resistance of < 0.010 W.

Device Specifications Table
Part Case Size Max. Working Voltage (V) Power Rating (mW) Resistance Range (W)
(0.1 %) (1 %, 2 %, 5 %)
M55342/05 2208 175 225 49.9 - 3.16 M 10 - 3.16 M
M55342/08 2010 150 800 49.9 - 4.02 M 10 - 4.02 M
M55342/09 2512 200 1000 49.9 - 6.19 M 10 - 6.19 M

The E/H devices provide a shelf-life stability of 100 ppm and operate over a temperature range of - 55°C to + 125°C. The resistors are offered in antistatic waffle pack or tape-and-reel packaging, and are available with non-standard resistance values.

Samples and production quantities of the new devices are available now, with lead times of eight weeks for larger orders.
