Wyse Technology Announces Breakthrough Speed and Performance with New V Class LE Thin Computer

New Wyse Thin Computer Optimized to Run in Traditional or Zero Client Enterprise Desktop Virtualization Environments

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 10 /-- Wyse Technology, the global leader in thin computing, today announced the availability of its new Wyse V class LE thin computer -- the company's fastest thin client yet. Powered by a VIA Eden(R) C7 processor running at 1.2GHz, this thin client delivers a 25 percent performance boost over previous models while enabling users to take advantage of any desktop virtualization environment.

What sets the Wyse V class LE apart from other thin clients is that it comes with standard built-in support for VMware(R) Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI), Citrix(R) Application Delivery and Microsoft(R) Windows Terminal Server software. Part of the reason thin clients, such as the Wyse V class LE, are experiencing strong sales growth is that they take advantage of provisioning and virtualization software to provide users with flexible and cost-effective deployment options for delivering applications and content.

According to recent IDC market share numbers, thin computing is definitely undergoing a strong resurgence. This year, new thin client shipments will account for one of 10 new corporate desktops in the U.S. This represents a significant shift as more and more enterprises are opting to replace traditional desktop PCs with alternatives like thin clients.

The Wyse V class LE also ships in a zero client configuration for use with Wyse provisioning software, or with a minimum of 128MB Flash, 128MB DDR2 RAM for already installed operating systems. All models feature high-resolution dual monitor support, giving users the ability to connect two displays simultaneously. Other enhancements include serial, parallel and USB expansion slots providing flexible peripheral support, plus optional Wi-Fi, PCMCIA and smart card support.

All these enhancements facilitate users productivity without compromising the reliability, affordability, security, and simplicity of thin computing solutions. The V class LE is an ideal solution for data-intensive environments such as document management, financial services, medical care, and research industries.

"The Wyse V class LE gives users a complete PC experience on a thin client while leveraging the latest in desktop provisioning and virtualization software," said Ashwin Kulkarni, Senior Director of Product Management for Wyse Technology. "Our approach allows users to choose the environment they are most comfortable with while making the most of their IT investments. The bottom line for our customers is greater flexibility and choice without paying a premium price."

As part of Wyse's EarthSmart Computing initiative, the Wyse V class LE is more environmentally friendly (greener), consuming less power than ever before, with less to recycle or place in land fills at the end of their useful life, than a typical desktop PC.

The new Wyse V class LE includes zero client models and models based on Windows CE 5.0, Linux, and Windows XP embedded. Models are available immediately starting at $479**. Dual video capability requires optional DVI-I to dual display cable, are also available from Wyse.
