Wyse Delivers Innovative, Small Form Factor Design in New Powerful Winterm(TM) S30 Thin Client

Large Enterprises to Implement Streamlined, High Performance Windows CE 5.0-Based Winterm S30

SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 10 -- Wyse Technology, the domain experts in network-centric computing, today announced availability of the Wyse(R) Winterm(TM) S30, an enhanced version of Wyse's powerful Windows CE-based device, that brings exceptional innovation in the form of tiny, sleek design, low power, and superior price/performance for the enterprise. The Winterm S30 is one of the first in the market based on Windows CE 5.0 and is three times faster than previous Wyse models. The extremely small form factor allows the unit to be easily mountable in a variety of locations.

Through thin client technology, a computing model in which applications and data are hosted centrally on a server rather than on the desktop device, Wyse is playing a fundamental role in the way large organizations provide access to information and manage their IT infrastructures. The S30 is the latest in a line of Wyse devices that are addressing the expanding market for network-centric computing, which is expected to grow at over 20 percent per year as companies seek to shift complexity from the edge to the center of the network.

"IDC expects the thin client market to grow some 20 percent annually for the next several years as organizations seek to reduce IT complexity and cost and improve information security. Continued innovation in design to extend these benefits and enhance versatility, configurability and usability will further drive acceptance and adoption of network-centric computing," said Bob O'Donnell, research director at analyst firm IDC.

A streamlined, optimized device about the size of a paperback book, the Winterm S30 employs an innovative monorail mounting system that is ideal for attaching the unit to a wall, desk or LCD monitor. Featuring AMD Geode GX processors, the Winterm S class delivers excellent processing performance with lower power usage and cooler operation within a diminutive, fan-less design. A fast, integrated video chipset delivers excellent video performance that reduces eyestrain and meets stringent European resolution and clinical healthcare requirements.

The Winterm S30 is an ideal device for enterprises looking for a scalable solution that requires much less space and power yet delivers the best performance and features of any device in its class.

"The S30 builds upon our strong relationship with Microsoft and Citrix in developing advanced net devices that are optimized for the popular Windows CE environment in the enterprise," said Jeff McNaught, Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Wyse Technology. "As more large companies turn to Wyse for scalable network-centric computing and access infrastructure solutions than any other vendor, we intend to continue to offer new advancements in net terminal technology to address a growing market."

Wyse will also be offering an enhanced worldwide service program starting with the S30 that will deliver comprehensive warranty options across all product lines. Wyse's GoldChoice, SilverChoice, and BronzeChoice warranty options are designed to further lower the total cost of ownership and provide customers with the parts needed to minimize equipment downtime, without requiring major investments in inventory, asset management infrastructure, and other costly resources.

The S30, available immediately, is offered at a starting price of $335.
