Thermocouple cold junction (C/J) compensation works properly only when the T/C connection and the compensating sensor are at the same temperature. Each degree of mismatch results in an equal degree of measurement error. JH Technology's family of thermocouple transmitters - DIN rail, plug-in and two-wire - features compensators potted directly into the terminal to minimize errors under varying ambient conditions.
