New WATCOUPLE from Watlow Lowers Operating Costs By Reducing Process Variation, Drift

St. Louis - Watlow recently unveiled its new nonstandard thermocouple, WATCOUPLE, designed to provide more accurate measurements and exhibit three times less drift than Type K thermocouples. The result is a longer lasting sensor that not only helps reduce operating and maintenance costs, but also increases process uptime and availability.

Designed to last longer in the most demanding applications, WATCOUPLE utilizes alternative metals that embody accuracy, stability and availability. Compared to traditional thermocouples that were primarily designed for linearity and have complicated alloys that compromise their accuracy, stability and longevity, WATCOUPLE makes use of the most technically advanced materials available - alloy 600 and nickel-silicon. These materials make the WATCOUPLE four times more accurate than Type K special limits, and it lasts three times longer.

Because WATCOUPLE is based on IEEE 1451.4 smart sensor technology, it automatically communicates its individual voltage table, calibration, manufacturing and traceability information.

"WATCOUPLE has so many advantages over typical thermocouples in terms of endurance, accuracy and cost reducing qualities," said Chris Seymour, sensor market manager for Watlow. "WATCOUPLE is even more accurate than class A RTDs above 100°C. Plus being a thermocouple has such natural advantages as being able to withstand high temperature limits in a compact size."

WATCOUPLE is ideal for the following applications:
o Heat treat, Furnace
o Aerospace
o Chemicals, oils and gas and petrochemical refining
o Power generation
o Metals, mining and glass processing
o Semiconductor
o Test stands

WATCOUPLE is available in all standard sizes and configurations.
