Thermocouple Cards provide low-noise temperature readings

Press Release Summary:

DBK81(TM), DBK82(TM), DBK835(TM), and DBK84(TM) are available in 7 or 14-channel configurations to provide thermocouple inputs to company's DaqBook(R), DaqBoard(R), and LogBook(R) product lines. Each has individual channel filtering and amplification to achieve maximum peak-to-peak noise levels of less than 0.2 deg C. Input channels may be configured via software to support TC types J, K, T, E, S, B, R, and N as well as voltage inputs up to 100 mV.

New High-Performance Thermocouple Cards Provide Low-Noise Temperature Readings

Individual Channel Signal Conditioning Provides Excellent Performance

CLEVELAND, March, 2002-IOtech has introduced four new high-performance thermocouple expansion options for it's popular DaqBook(R), DaqBoard(R), and LogBook(R) product lines. Available in 7- or 14-channel configurations, the DBK81(TM), DBK82(TM), DBK835(TM), and DBK84(TM) feature individual channel filtering and amplification to achieve maximum peak-to-peak noise levels of less than 0.2 deg C with no digital averaging. Input channels may be individually configured via software to support TC types J, K, T, E, S, B, R, and N as well as voltage inputs up to 100 mV.

The new series offers basic TC accuracy of better than 0.5°C and a scanning bandwidth of 200 kHz. Channel-to-channel reading variations are minimized by an improved cold-junction compensation system utilizing isothermal PCB layouts and thermistor sensing of ambient temperature. Measurement integrity is further insured by open thermocouple detection on each channel.

The new options span four different form factors to address a variety of connection and budget requirements. The DBK81 is a 7-channel card with on-board screw terminals. The DBK82 is a 14-channel card with on-board screw terminals. The DBK83 is a 14-channel card with a D-sub connector that mates with a remote screw-terminal pod, POD-1. The pod provides a sheltered connection environment and a convenient, one-cable, disconnection mechanism for a shared portable system. The DBK84 is a 14-channel module with miniature TC jacks that shares the same footprint as a DaqBook mainframe. It provides a convenient, rugged package for applications that require frequent changing of the thermocouple inputs.

Pricing & Availability
The DBK81 is priced at $495, the DBK82 at $795, the DBK83, with POD-1 and connecting cable (CA-239) at $895, and the DBK84 at $995. Availability is from stock.
