Thermbond Delivers No-Compromise Formula 2000 Series

(Boca Raton, Florida; December 3, 2007) - Stellar Materials Incorporated, a worldwide leader in Refractories, has introduced a new and improved family of Thermbond® products named Formula 2000 Series. Formula 2000 Series products were developed to provide improved abrasion resistance and physical strength in the aluminum and petrochemical industries.

For the aluminum industry, Thermbond Formula 2104-L delivers enhanced non-wetting characteristics, improved abrasion resistance, and higher strengths.

According to Jens Decker, Director of Technical Services for Stellar Materials, the goal when developing Thermbond's Formula 2000 Series products was to increase physical properties while maintaining the trademark features of Thermbond's patented binder system. "Customers love the performance of our flagship products in most areas of their furnaces. The exception was in the most severe abrasion and mechanical abuse areas. Our new Formula 2104-L is the solution. It is especially successful in extending life in sills, ramps and floors - areas with the most mechanical and physical abuse."

For the petrochemical industry, and in particular for Fluidized Catalytic Cracking Units (FCCUs), Formula 2112-R was developed as a high abrasion resistant rammable material for erosion resistant linings including cyclones and risers. Formula 2125 was developed for casting and gunning requirements in high thermal stress applications where moderate erosion was a concern. These areas include overhead flue gas and bypass lines, seal pots, and stripper sections.

Ted Hagberg, Director of Business Development for Stellar Materials explains, "In the past, our customers had to sacrifice fast heat-up and the durability of a high abrasion resistant refractory material. Thermbond's Formula 2000 Series products for FCCU's deliver the right physical properties plus the traditional features of Thermbond; fast setting, rapid heat-up and the ability to bond to existing fired refractories."

Thermbond is manufactured in Whitmore Lake, Michigan with company offices in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Oregon, Wisconsin, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Tenessee, Arkansas, The Netherlands, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates. Thermbond is also distributed internationally through exclusive strategic partners.
