Thermal Technology Ships Large Graphite Hot Press

SANTA ROSA, Calif. - Thermal Technology, a leading manufacturer of vacuum and high temperature furnace systems, recently built, installed and commissioned a 500,000-pound force hot press for a Northern California company to produce large powder metallurgy semiconductor materials. The hot press, Model HP500-242424G, offers a large usable work space with a 4-side heated graphite hot zone rated to 1800°C and operates in an inert gas, vacuum or partial pressure environment.

Thermal Technology's Model HP500-242424G provides a spacious 24-inch cube work area with a convenient front or rear loading configuration, permitting direct and unrestricted access to the work area. This system offers precision force control and displacement measurement with accuracy of better than 0.5% of reading.

"This high force system offers production-scale capacity with precision control and repeatable performance," says Matt Mede, Thermal Technology president and CEO. "The HP500-242424G provides upgraded force and atmosphere controls which present the customer with unique processing capabilities leading to new material development possibilities."

Thermal Technology's hot press systems are designed for the simultaneous application of high temperature and high pressures. Primary applications include densification of powdered materials, diffusion bonding of solid components and processing of fibrous composites. Temperature and force programming are simplified by the use of a Eurotherm 2704 controller.

Thermal Technology designs and manufactures crystal growing systems and high temperature vacuum and controlled atmosphere laboratory and production furnaces for the advanced processing of metals, ceramics, glass, quartz and crystal growing applications. Thermal Technology has over 60 years of experience and more than 3000 installations in 40 countries.
