Thermal Solutions Teams Up with Taco to Provide Energy Solutions and Savings for the Providence Housing Authority
Providence Housing Authority (PHA) provides housing to over 5,700 residents in thirteen (13) public housing developments and six (6) family developments in Providence, Rhode Island. In 2006, the PHA in cooperation with its local utility, National Grid, decided to decentralize their central steam boiler plant and replace with individual high energy-efficient hot water boilers & related equipment. A trend that improves comfort and savings. Forty-five (45) Thermal Solutions Evolution boilers along with Taco Viridian pumps were installed and integrated into a building automation system. This system monitors and controls their operation to maximize performance and energy savings while reducing labor and maintenance costs.
In the end, Providence Housing Authority was very pleased with the improvements made to their heating system. Savings in fuel, water & electrical consumption, maintenance and personnel will allow them to make additional contributions to their youth, adult and elderly programs that help their residents address social and economic needs.
