Fujitsu's New Printer Mechanisms Offer Performance and Durability at a Cost-Effective Price Point



Sunnyvale, Calif. September 9, 2003 Fujitsu Components America, Inc. today released a new series of 24V compact and lightweight, high-speed thermal printer mechanisms for cost-conscious POS, banking, kiosk, test and measurement, and medical equipment applications.

The FTP-607MCL103/383 series includes 2- and 3-inch, die-cast metal printer mechanisms and optional automatic cutters. The 2-inch printer measures 86.9mm (w) x 33.1mm (h) x 66.3 (D) and weighs 240g with a mounted cutter. The 3-inch printer with cutter is 105.7mm (w) and weighs 275g.

Both printers have a maximum variable print speed of 100mm/second and offer a print resolution of 8 dots per/mm. They accommodate a variety of paper stock from 60 to 100 micrometers thick, and feature Fujitsu's patented Easy-Load Model platen removal system that simplifies and expedites paper loading and printer maintenance.

The printers are available with optional RS-232C or parallel interface boards. An LSI is also available for those designing their own controller.

With a head life rated at 500 million pulses or 50km of paper, and an operating temperature of 0 to +50 degrees C, the FTP-607MCL103/383 series is well-suited for a variety of applications requiring long-term, reliable performance.

Available immediately, the FTP-607MCL383 series is priced at $67.50 for a 2-inch mechanism with cutter and $82.50 for a 3-inch mechanism with cutter in 1000-piece quantities. Pricing for a parallel interface board is $70.00, and a RS-232C serial interface board is $72.50.
