Mikron Raises The Bar On Low-Cost Thermal Imaging With Introduction Of Mikroscan 7515

Oakland, NJ (November 1, 2001) - Mikron Instruments Company, Inc. (Nasdaq: MIKR) today announced that it has recently unveiled industry's first affordable fully-radiometric, hand-held thermal imaging camera with software for the predictive maintenance markets. The MikroScan 7515 offers the same Uncooled Focal Plane Array (Microbolometer) as its more sophisticated counterpart-the MikroScan 7200. In addition to containing many functions normally found on infrared cameras costing twice as much, the MikroScan 7515 ships complete with the world-renowned MikroSpec thermal image analysis and report generation software-providing predictive/preventative maintenance plants with a complete thermal inspection system at a price under $25,000.

"Mikron has raised the bar on low-cost thermal imaging by offering the MikroScan 7515", explained Jon Chynoweth, Vice President of Imaging Sales. "Although thermal imaging cameras and software packages are extremely beneficial in the areas of predictive maintenance and condition monitoring, the market prices of these highly-sophisticated systems are often out of reach for many customers. Our ultimate mission is to provide a low-cost alternative for the predictive maintenance markets who are looking for a high-quality thermnal inspection and analysis system at an affordable price."

The MikroScan 7515's fully-radiometric detector offers outstanding image resolution of 320 x 240 pixels and delivers outstanding long wave (8 to 14 micron) imaging performance with thermal sensitivity of 0.8°C at 30°C. The standard lens offers a 29°(H) x 22°(V) field of view with a focusing distance of 50cm to infinity. Completely self-contained in a dustproof and splash-proof metal case, the MikroScan 7515 is ergonomically designed for comfortable one-handed point-and-shoot operation and weighs just over 3 pounds.

The MikroSpec thermal imaging software offers an array of powerful image analysis tools including image calibration, filtering, statistical analysis, and Regions of Interest definition, with an architecture that is easy to understand and operate. Combined with the MikroScan 7515, this high-quality, fully comprehensive thermal imaging package offers a combination of functionality, ease of use, and value that is unrivaled in the industry.
