ThePort Network Premieres Blerts(TM) Desktop RSS Alerter at DEMO 07

Company Beats out Hundreds to Present at Prestigious, Invitation-Only Event

ATLANTA, Jan. 30 /- Leading social media solutions provider ThePort Network, Inc. will debut Blerts, the first graphics-based RSS alert utility at DEMO 07. The premier launch pad for emerging technologies, DEMO 07 will take place in Palm Desert, CA, January 30 - February 1, 2007. ThePort is one of 68 companies hand-picked from hundreds of applicants worldwide.

"Blerts is the application that the information-overloaded will want to use," said Chris Shipley, DEMO executive producer. "The addition of Blerts to ThePort's existing social media suite brings great new capabilities to the social media market, which is why they will be an exciting part of DEMO 07," she added.

Blerts was developed in response to the growing popularity of RSS syndication and consumption. Much like email subscriptions, the abundance of quality RSS feeds can lead to information-overload. Blerts is a free, lightweight desktop utility that consumers can use to manage how they access and engage their most important RSS feeds. A desktop alert is automatically created for each feed subscribed with Blerts. Each alert can then be customized with its own unique graphic. Users can even define how each graphic will behave on the desktop - Pop-Up, Fade or Silent - when an update is available. The update's headline and content can be viewed either in Blerts, or users can click-on the headline to navigate to the URL.

"We are honored to be able to debut Blerts and introduce ThePort Network at the same forum that launched technologies from companies such as Salesforce.com, Skype and Sun Microsystems," said Bob Cramer, CEO of ThePort Network. "And since the majority of DEMO attendees are busy executives, we can't think of a more appropriate audience to test-drive this utility," he added.

The upcoming spring release of Blerts will allow consumers to subscribe to free, personalized and transaction-driven RSS feeds. Just as consumers opt-in to email alerts for airfare changes and limited time offers from their favorite online stores, the next release will give them the option of subscribing to these types of information via RSS feeds and add them to Blerts to create RSS desktop alerts.
