The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) Completes Successful Rollout of SofTechnics' GeM2020® Suite of Inventory and Price Management Applications


AKRON, Ohio, Jan. 9 /- SofTechnics, a leading provider of integrated retail enterprise software solutions, announced today that the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) has successfully completed the roll-out of SofTechnics' GeM2020 In-Store Inventory and Price Management suite, Receiving, Inquiry, and Cycle Count Modules. The PLCB operates 640 retail stores, which had total sales in the past fiscal year of $1.57 billion. It also licenses over 20,000 businesses in Pennsylvania that are licensed to handle beverage alcohol, accounting for annual business volume of $13 billion.

The PLCB is an independent state agency that manages the alcohol beverage industry in Pennsylvania. It is responsible for licensing the possession, sale, storage, transportation, importation, and manufacture of wine, spirits, and malt or brewed beverages in the commonwealth. The PLCB provides alcohol education about the harmful effects of excessive alcohol consumption. For the 2005-06 fiscal year, the PLCB projects that it will contribute $80 million in profits to the commonwealth and return $315 million in taxes, provide more than $18.5 million to the Pennsylvania State Police for enforcement, $2 million to the Department of Health for drug and alcohol programs, and return $4.5 million in license fees to local municipalities.
